One of the Suffolk ponies--his rider seemed to allow him to have a fantasy run at the finish line after each race got off safely!
Stag Dance wins the 6th race.
What a Trippi, one of my choices in the 7th, walking in--note Pedroia shirt in crowd.
Barry Storm, my other selection in this one, bearing a stunning resemblance to the Breyer Kelso.
On the Vineyard charges on to the win.
Barry Storm returns--you can see how much dirt the horses pick up even on a dry day.
What a Trippi looks none too pleased.
I'm always a sucker for the dapple greys, in this case Itsawonderfulife and Blushing Charlie.
I'm also a sucker for this tobiano pony!
Itsawonderfulife returns to the barn.
I sat out the wagering on the Moseley Sprint, because it was pretty clear to me that Afrashad was going to run away with it at short odds. What a spectacular-looking animal.
Evening Attire, a sentimental choice for the MassCap.
Breaking from the gate for the MassCap. You can see the bobble for Fairbanks, #4.
He did recover all right, though.
Passing the stands for the first time.
Brass Hat pulls away in the stretch.
And last but not least... after spending the afternoon reviewing past performances and assessing the looks of the horses in the paddock--and losing--I read the entries for the final race and saw a horse named Lucky Leo. One of my cats is named Leo. Good enough for me. And who would be my only winner on the day?
