I have the Touch

Two weeks and change with my mp3 player (Creative Zen Touch) and it's hard to imagine life without it. I'm up to about 160 albums loaded and still have nearly half the space left. Sound quality is good; maybe not quite as good as my CD player but the sacrifice is worth it--no more choosing the CDs that will join me every day. An end to commitment and regret!

I know I'm late to the party on the advantages of shuffle play, but the thing has come up with some lovely segues. As I sat waiting for the bus, a two-fer by the Church ("Maya" into "Song for the Asking") was followed by one of my favorite Weakerthans songs, "My Favorite Chords." Depeche Mode's "Here is the House," ending with ticking in only the left speaker, segued astonishingly effectively into Calla's "Strangler" starting with its crunch of guitar on the right. Lulled into a romantic mood by Kimberley Rew's "Honey Is That Love"? Let's follow with the Pogues and "The Gentleman Soldier"!
