Yeah, I'm grumpy this morning... so?

It's funny... I figured that C.C. Sabathia would get the Cy Young, and while I might like to change things so that postseason play could be included in consideration, rules is rules. Based on the regular season I thought one could justify either C.C. or Beckett at the top of the ballot, and C.C. had the nod in enough categories that I guessed it would swing his way.

That said, it's another one of those mornings where I look around at what folks have written and think, can we look past partisanship and just congratulate the guy on a great year? I mean, the Red Sox collectively took home the ultimate prize. We, as fans, got what we wanted. That's not always compatible with individual achievement (see Rodriguez, Alex). Do we still have to get our digs in at a pitcher who under the rules was still a worthy winner?

I'm proud of Josh. It was amazing to read his comments in Spring Training, about how he understood Tek's role now, about what Farrell went over with him, and then to see the year that followed. I'm thrilled to death to have seen those three postseason Game One masterpieces. And I promise I'll finish my post in his honor on mlblogs one of these days...

Congratulations to C.C. Sabathia.
